I am currently looking for another pup and have decided not to import due to the cost factor.
What i need to do is find many dogs and bitches pedigrees to check out their ancestry as there are lines which i would want to avoid.
I have tried to KC website but couldn't find anything.
I have time on my hands as i don't wish to get another until Spring next year at the earliest but wish to do a bit of research while i wait.
Thanks

With my breed you would research in the club journals going through the stud dog pedigrees, and the ones of champions made up.
hey sue jaw hope this helps :) you can register for free and search any dogs pedigrees of many breeds, I even found some of mine :) it's excellent
http://www.worldpedigrees.com/
I like that site too. The only problem I've found is that I get lost in the ancestry and forget who I was originally looking at

Hi i have just had a look at that and Bernese aren't on it.
I can do some research through the champ books i have but its not enough as there are many other lines in interested in researching.

Thanks Annastasia.
I have looked on there and yes there are Bernese but not the UK registered lines. There are some European lines and also American lines which helps very little at this stage. Its fine for me to use when the dogs history goes back into parts of Europe but at this stage i need to basis for the UK lines.
I have seen on a website which is Spinone's that they put the dogs history onto the main webs page when a dog is entered into most Champ shows. I found this informative as you can then check all lines going back through. You can also see a photo of the dog and each time you pull a new one up it also shows what they have done in the ring.
I am either looking for something like this or at least be able to contact someone who can get me paper copies at the very least, but internet based is easier.

Ah sorry it wernt much help, hope you find what you are looking for soon.

Archie that is great thanks. It has most of what i'm looking for, though unless they are placed on the site by the breeders then it will mean contacting the relevant breeders/owners.
It doesn't have pics, but thats fine, the main thing is i can then research further with what i have here,,
