Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Crufts qualifying shows
- By Noora Date 16.08.08 12:14 UTC
It's me again with silly question to do with shows.
Do all Championship shows qualify for Crufts and is it all classes and breeds?
I'm ok with my Leo but my friend has a curlycoated retriever and it seem they have no CC's on offer on either of the shows we are going to go to.
Will her dog still qualify for Crufts if he does well?
I have read the schedules but only thing I can find regarding Crufts is a text on the bottom saying this is a Crufts qualifying show.
So I would take it her dog can qualify but then maybe he can't, better check from people who know :)

I believe that if they have no CC's, then they will not qualify for CRUFTS, on the KC website, they are in Band B, which is 1st/2nd in Open to qualify. But I'm sure someone will come along soon with a more informative answer ;-)

If the Breed has CC status then Ch Shows with classes without CCs do not qualify for Crufts

1st to 3rd in all breeds that have CC status & have CCs in offer qualify for Crufts from Minor Puppy, Puppy, Junior,Yearling(for Stud Book Band E breeds only), Post Grad, Limit, Open & Veteran, plus CC & Res CC winners. Breeds that do not have CC status then the above placements in the above classes qualify at any Ch Show they have classes scheduled.

The Stud Book Bands show which classes & placements qualify a dog for it's Stud Book Number-this gives the dog a lifetime Crufts qualification. they are not the only placements that qualify a dog for Crufts

Thanks!
It's all so very confusing!
She will not be happy as I think she will not be able to even try to qualify him now :(.
She doesn't drive so she is very limited on where she can get to.

The only shows left this year for your friend to qualify her Curly at are WKC tomorrow, City of Birmingham, Richmond, Driffield, Gundog Breeds of Scotland & LKA
- By Noora Date 16.08.08 17:38 UTC
Thanks for that.
I think she will be able to do LKA with me so we just have they get lucky and he will qualify there :)

Just had a thought, gundogs are not usually on the same days as the Working/Pastoral breeds. If gundogs share days it would normally be with terriers & hounds or the utility & toys so it is unlikely that you will be on the same day as your friend.

i wish driffield would go back to working and pastoral on the same days,
i used to like travelling with my friend me with pastoral and her with her working dog but when they changed it around
to working with terrier and pastoral with hound ,
just lost the buzz for me, but you are right gundogs are not usually on the same days as working/pastoral

Yes, we have realised that so we will stay overnight in a hotel.

But this rises yet another question!
I better start a new one for this...

Don't forget Boston in January.  It's held at Newark.
- By crinklecut [gb] Date 18.08.08 11:58 UTC
Unfortunately Boston do not schedule Curly classes so not possible to qualify from there.

You can qualify from Open and Premier Open shows as well. Open shows you need to get BIS or RBIS and in Premier winning BOB if your breed is judged but a B listed judge and you have enough classes.
- By newf3 [gb] Date 18.08.08 16:11 UTC
nova,
How many is enough classes to qualify by getting bob at a prem show, is it 3 or 5 classes and does there have to be a certain amount of dogs in each class please?
also how do you find out which list your judge is on please?
- By Goldmali Date 18.08.08 17:28 UTC
The breeds that do qualify for Crufts at premier open shows will be listed in the schedule. Usually only the really popular breeds like Goldens, Cavaliers etc.

Not sure but think it is 4 classes except for E band when I think it is 5, we have not run a Premier show for a couple of years but we gave all hound breeds judges and classes that would qualify.

Luton has a show at the end of December but not sure how many of which breeds will be offered qualification classes.
- By crinklecut [gb] Date 18.08.08 19:19 UTC
Luton used to offer Curly classes but do not do so any longer. No premier show has ever offered a qualification for Curly Coated Retrievers via a Best of Breed win.

You may well be right I only have detailed knowledge of the hound group. Guess the friend will have to wait till next year to enter that one show, a shame if they particularly wished to do Crufts but even if they find a show that offer qualification there is no reason to expect they would be well enough placed to achieve the qualification.
