Topic Dog Boards / General / Anyone use furminator on long coated breeds?
- By ChinaBlue [gb] Date 15.08.08 13:30 UTC
I've heard about this and am considering getting one for my long coat GSDs. I am worried though that it will damage their coats, even though the info says it won't. It's a fair bit of money to invest, though anything that will save me buying hoovers continually will eventually be very cost effective :)

Can anyone out there using it on long coated dogs tell me how they find it? Thanks very much

i have a thick coated long haired collie, and when i use the furminator it takes all the undercoat out and leaves the top alone, it has been the best thing i have bought for grooming him, i also have an elderly powderpuff and have used it on her,
the only dog i have not used it on is my spitz, i just do not think it would get through his coat,

the amount of hair i get off my collie when i use it , i do it outside as there is just so much of it, i put it in the hedge so the birds etc can line the nests with it
it takes out much more than a normal brush, zoom groom. or slicker ever does.

i love mine,
i know of people that have them and they can't get away with using them,
also look on ebay sometimes they are going cheaper than buying them in the shop,
but make sure you do not get the cheap alternitive one
