Hi Sam
I do agility with my cocker spaniel, and will be starting my other one, who turned 1 year last wednesday. We are in Jersey, and go to the (GSD Training Club) we also have PAWS Agility.
I think I am in Midi's (under 15 inches). I absolutely love it, and my older cocker Starr does too. We have been promoted to a new class !! We are now in beginners, so that I can run the other one in newcomers. We haven't done any competitions yet, as we have only been doing it since January, but they are looking for us to do a comp in September/October....can't wait :D
How about you??

I do it with my little border terrier x she lives for it , i have been doing it for 2 years and she is so good.
Everyone has been on at me to enter comps , so i took the plunge and entered a few first one next week.
Wish me luck!!

Good luck Sam. It is great fun isn't it. After agreeing to my chums daughter borrowing Amber to do it I used to go and watch them and several times contemplated elbowing her out the way and saying I'll have her back now thank you :D

You will love it Sam, I can't wait for our first one. Even if we don't get placed, I don't care, just want to have a laugh.
Let me know how you get on.

My cocker Amber did it for a while with my friends daughter handling, they went to a club just outside Lancaster.
I have been doing it for a little while now at a local club at Christchurch- great facilites, both indoor and out!
We haven't yet done the see-saw, or stuff such as the A frame at full height due to Banya being only 14 months :)
We will be entering a "fun" agility at a show in August, (our first) and I am terrified as i expect Banya will be so excited ..... I just have no idea what will happen!!!
There is a strong possibility she may go "deaf" !!! :D
Good luck to everyone involved in the sport :)

I'm at teh same agility club as Lindsay. Have never been brave enough to enter even a fun competition, but the two girls really enjoy it. I think it's great fun. And especially for the whippets I chose to do this over regular obedience as with repetition they get bored, but with agility they learn the same principals of paying attention while doing 'fun stuff'.
Best of luck with yours!

Wendy you should try the fun competitions...I was made up on Thursday as we strung together 6 obstacles !! 6 more and we have a course !!! I also started India (12mnths) and she did really well..the only problem was that I couldn't keep up, was wearing trainers and the grass was slippery, was skidding all over the place. So had to go out and buy some studded trainers....but i love agility...it doesn't matter where you come in your fun comp's as long as you have a go and complete the course. We have a lot of good agility people in our club, but I just think that they all started off like me, and if I can get to the level they are at, I will be very pleased..
Natasha :D
Thanks for the encouragement. We probably will at some point. Chelsea has been doing it for 2 1/2 years now and Savannah is still 'in training' - we'd get marks off for sure as she needs lots of encouragement for some things. My only concern is Chelsea just barks soooo much and I don't want to put off others. I'm slowly working myself up to taking the plunge though. I feel more confident about her (Chelsea)than I did even a few months ago.

Wendy, If I can do it with mine, you can with yours. They must have thought I was something out of a comedy act (if you saw me showing you would know what I mean !!)(tripping over carpets, loosing my ring clip-need I go on !!). I wouldn't let my cocker off the lead, as she ran away from me once and would not come back, they have been on at me at agility to let her off for the particular obstacles..which I have in time since January...now she is off the lead altogether and runs off, but comes straight back, sits down, and gives her paw for a treat !! You do get there...I'm proof of that !! :D :D
Natasha
One of the things I love about agility is how friendly and supportive people are....
Wendy, you are way more experienced than we are!!! Why not have a go at the fun one at Somerley show on August 10th?
Loads of great horse stuff too - if you love horses!! Coloureds, Arabs, Palominos....
If it is baking hot though we won't go as i can't ber it too hot, and then there's the dogs to consider...:)

Lindsay
That is one thing I found with my club, everyone is really friendly, and can't do enough to help you out...
Mind you...it does help that we have a dishy agility trainer !!!!!!! :D :D :D :D
NAtasha
Ooh a dishy agility trainer, so that's why you go!!!

Ours is a woman so I can't really say much about that, she is very nice and has a funny slightly sarcastic humour and we do all have a good giggle which is part of the fun.
Last week one of the members brought a cake to celebrate her getting a new field to train in, and it was put on a table and cut into slices.
BAnya was very sweet until I put her in a Down on the small table to get my slice.....as i went back to get her and said "OK" she grabbed the cake.....LOL she must have thought it was her treat. We all had a giggle and then I got another bit of cake :)
LIfe is never boring !!! :)

LOL @ Lindsay :D :D
Yes he does make it worth while going, in the pooring rain and fog !! Especially with the one to one tuition !! In fact someone asked if we were married last week (we were doing a bit of the flirting thing :D)...shame he's only 24 !!
Did they thing you were a bit hungry, going back for your second piece of cake !!! Cheeky monkey..(Banya that is )..
Natasha
We have been spoilt and had indoor facilities as well as outdoor, but now we will have just a field I expect, so we will no doubt be out in all weathers too :D :).
Don't suppose there will always be cake to tempt us though!!

See that is the only problem with ours, we only have outdoors, and as from 31 Aug, going back to Saturdays..which is a pain, if I have a show, it means I miss agility...
Natasha
Cause that's our day at B'mouth champ show:)
W
That's a pretty good reason - shame they clash though!
Well, I shall think of you with a well behaved whippet, if you think of me with a potty Terv probably gone deaf and jumping all the wrong obstacles!!! ;)
