Since I got my rescue greyhoung 6 years ago, she has always had bad teeth, I have had her to the vets and she has had most removed except 5, her canines and 1 other is left.  He gums are getting quite bad, and receding.  I brush her teeth every other day (much to her disgust!) and use warm salty water and a seringe and seringe her gums.  I really dont fancy her having to get more removed, as the vet can only do this by knocking her out, and I understand that this can be dangerous to this breed and also she is 12, so getting on. So I was wondering is there anything else I can do for her gums.

Thanks

It sounds as if things have gone to far for anything else to be done.  There is one problem with dogs who have no teeth the jaw starts to go spongy which could cause future issues.  Most vets for this reason try to keep as many teeth in as possible to keep the jaw stable.  So if the vet is recommending them to come out they must be getting pretty bad.

I have a very old cat (16) with no teeth at the moment and she doesn't seem to mind.  Just means she gets all the nice soft treats. :)
