Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Ironing rosettes
- By zarah Date 01.08.08 19:47 UTC
Have decided to make a display for my dog's rosettes (aka procrastinating!) but because I've had them shoved in a box the tails are all kinked and folded over in places. Is it safe to iron the tails or will it ruin them?

i'd either steam them or iron them under a thin dish towel.

Shouldn't hurt them tho

I always just iron the rosette (on the wrong side of tail if printing on there) and have never had any problems.

(No, I'm not that tragic, I don't 'always' iron rosettes - that's my committee job and sometimes get one that needs straightening! Sounds like I do a weekly rosette iron LOL)

You mean there are OTHER uses for an iron?? Ironing rosettes is the ONLY thing I have ever used mine for. :) :)

Mine are all in a box with the show catalogues, schedules ,ring numbers etc.....Im kinda sad like that I collect everything I can from each show as a souvinir.

I did iron one of my rossettes once it was badly crumpled from being shoved in my bag in a hurry and I covered it with a tea towel so not to burn it, but unfortunately the imprint of the tea towel is now all over the rossette tails and I cant get rid of it lol

Keep asking  o/h to make me some sort of display box so I can put them out to look at but I might as well try making it myself for all the good thats done  lol

Show off Marianne! ;-) ROFL Some of us have to use irons for clothes in hopes of our first rosette. :) :)

Ah but Lori I've been showing animals since I was 12 (that's, erm, a FEW years!), and not only dogs. :) I ironed rosettes LONG before clothes LOL.

I just nail them onto the walls. (There's a million ways to do it, such as putting up a string to hang them from, but I  got fed up with them falling off too easily with any other method, especially when dusted. Display boards get full too quickly.) But only the major ones, the rest goes in a box, or gets donated to charity shows.
