Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Fussy tibetan mastiff - what to feed?
- By Chazy46 [gb] Date 31.07.08 01:21 UTC
Have a fussy eating tibetan mastiff. Not quite sure what else to try her on been on about 6 different dry foods. Beta, royal canin, everything any everyday dog would love. Resorted to raw meal diet. Tripe and chicken etc but begun getting fussy with that. Sardines, going off. Was on pedigree chum before we got her and food was left down all the time. She is 13 months old. Had her about a month. Out of coat and dont know what to feed her as its hard keeping weight on her. Any ideas?

If you're going to change the type of food, do it gradually, over a period of a week to 10 days for each change to avoid digestive problems. All this chopping and changing isn't good and is making her 'fussy'. If she was in good condition on pedigree chum, stick with it.

Hi,
Is that you Jenny? If so I was looking for your number last night (it's on this desk somewhere!) as I wondered how you were getting on.
Jeff.

Oh Chazy!! Bless you, come sit thee down *pats armchair* here's a big cuppa...its time for a chill out!!
Put yourself in Miss Mastiff's paws......
She's been with you only a month and that in itself is a ((whole)) lotta change for any dog and she's a youngster!! She's getting her bearings and imagine if your world got turned upside down you'd want some stability! Soooooo deep breath... she WONT starve herself to death.... choose one  food and for now stick to it. This period of transition will pass and her weight will return to normal soon enough orr ather just as soon as most things in her world start to become familiar and stop chopping and changing :-)

Trust me and Ive been in your position before Huskies can go for days without food, and my Lad was a rescue so he was out of kilter for quite a while.
In a few months time you'll be watching her wolfing her way through her bowl in a split second and marvel at the gannet she's become ;-)
