Someone I was chatting to when out dog walking (she is a air hostess) told me when she is away her husband uses
Skype to talk to her at whatever hotel she is staying overnight at.
Am thinking of downloading it and speaking to friends overseas - no charge if computer to computer and very low charge for computer to land line.

Anyone else use this?  Good & bad experiences?

Motorhomers use this for when they are away on their jollies. They use the headsets which enables them to walk about and do the washing up as well as chat. Fix up a webcam too and away you go and all for free! We have it downloaded, but as yet we have not used it.

We have used it in the past when my BIL was posted to Yemen so we could keep in touch.  Other family members also used it so occassionally we could all chat at the same time.  I would however say though that sometimes the connection wasnt great and if using the webcam, the picture would break up which can be frustrating but all in all it was good.  There is a bit of a delay when speaking which can take some getting used to and you will spend the first few conversations talking over each other because you forget to wait!

I use it to talk to my sons at Uni its cheaper than topping up their mobiles. You can get a small skype headset and camera from Dixons so i can see them as well.

Yes.  My sister has just moved to America and I have chatted to her several times.  We have also managed conference calls linking in my other sister.  It is great fun and you really feel you are in close touch.  Haven't bought a camera yet.  I can see them but they can't see me.  I wonder if anyone can tell me, do I have to choose a camera that specifically says Skype compatible, as some seem to do, or will any webcam do?

I've got it to speak to my Dad who lives a long way away. Find it really easy to use and was also easy to download.
