Just wondering where the forum members buy their POM from, on line, just been looking and there seems a vast difference in both cost and P&P.

I order from Hyperdrug but found that there wasn't a huge variation in the prices of what I needed to buy.

Vetmedic, lots of stuff is FREE p+p, and correct order POM and other stuff arrives quickly.

How do you all handle this part:  Do you get a quote from the vet then shop around, or just ask your vet to write the Prescription?

I can see that some on the online prices are quite good but have yet to pluck up courage to speak to the vet about it!!

Do you have to pay a fee for the prescription?

Thanks

Just ask for a prescription - you'll know the price the vet'll charge because you'll have had the medication before. (I've never known someone take their pet to the vet, have it diagnosed and be prescribed medication, then go away and check online prices before treating their animal!)

Not at the moment, though I understand that's due to change in October.

I have found different places to be cheaper for different quantities of the same drug. My GSP has been getting PLT - got it from VetUK the first time for a small quantity, then when I got a prescription for more, I found somewhere else (forgotten where, just been awake all night) where the larger quantity was cheaper from. So it really depends what you're getting and how much of it - you need to check costs on the online pharmacies, which you can do. :-) HTH.

I use Petmeds or cheat and pick up stuff in USA when I am there.

when I ordered POM for last dog I got the prescription from vet, (he wrote out 1 months tabs and added a repeat for 5 more months). Rang up Vetmedic and said what I needed, paid with a card and sent the script off, they posted the tabs out as soon as the script arrived but after all I had to do was phone up and ask for a repeat, pay with card and they arrived 24/48 hrs later. (and a lot cheaper - It worked out £21 per week not £39 from vet - no insurance :-( but he had to have them.

Thank you all for your recommendations, I normally use Hyperdrug but they only do one of the tablets I need in vast amounts and can't afford the £250 required even if my vet would agree to my purchasing that number. So I will have to go with the company that will supply the medication I need in the amounts I need it.

Think at the moment Petdrugs can supply at the right price so may go with them, although I have been given some more sites to look at and I should find time to do so.

Thanks again
