Just thought I would let you know about a holiday we had on the Devon and Cornwall border.

We have 3 Newfoundlands and a Golden Retriever so to find a place to stay can be difficult and sometimes the places are not the best. Recently though we were recommended Hedley Wood, Bridgerule, Holsworthy, Devon http://www.hedleywood.co.uk/ which is just 6 miles outside Bude.

We stopped in a Static Caravan and we had a superb time. We just took a number of throws for all the furniture and each morning had a bit of a hoover up. By the end of the holiday the van was spotless!!

But the site was wonderful, it had a bar and restaurant and the meals were fantastic. All with our 4 dogs sat at our feet as they were welcomed into the function rooms. The staff couldnt do enough for people and we will definately be making a return visit. There was some great walks and a number of dog friendly beaches were our dogs had a great time swimming in the sea

I just thought I would start this post so others could add their recommendations for dog friendly holidays

Regards

Julie

We stayed at The Tinners Arms in Zennor Cornwall a couple of months back. We have only one dog,  we could have him in the bedroom, they even provided a dog bed, though we had brought our own. He was allowed to sit by us in the breakfast room in the morning, and accompanied us to the pub for dinner in the evening.
The area is great for walks as it is on a coast path.

Thanks for the recommendation Julie. We usually go camping with our three ( in trailer tent), but after spending the majority of one day to put our awning up this year, I feel like a rest for next years hols. Been on the website and it definately looks like a lovely site.

I have just noticed this post has been removed to "FOO"

None dog related posts!

Can somebody answer me how a post asking for Dog Friendly Holidays which was originally posted under "General" be a "None dog related" post?

I know lots of people who love their dogs who would love to find a place to take their beloved pets.

When they visit this forum, I am sure they would not consider looking under "none dog related" posts for their answer

I may be in the minority but for the life of me I cant understand that decision. Hope I havent upset the webmaster by saying so though!!!

I have checked out the website for tinner arms which looks good, and would be ideal for people with only a few dogs, but unfortunatley with me having 4. The only place which comes up to scratch and as such we will be going back is Hedley Wood.

Does anybody else know of Holiday venues which accept mutliple dogs?

If so can you drop us a line

Scotland's great for being dog friendly but I know it's a bit far away for a lot of you.  Mackays agency is good - a lot of their cottages take dogs, more than one as well.

We've just booked to go up to the far North East near Thurso in October.  One week £189, dog included.  This was with Cottages4U.  Very reasonable.  Lots of their properties take more than one dog.  Worth a look as this company are all over UK, not just Scotland :)

We stay in a place in north Devon and she is more than happy with our 3 being there as she has 2 dogs of her own.  The owner has masses of her own land and there are loads of walks around the area.  We found the property on the Sykes Cottages web site last year, but have booked direct with her this year.

we're taking our three dogs to little dumpledale in south wales in a couple of weeks, also we have a static caravan on the essex coast - this is a dog friendly site that has campers, tourers and vans for hire with plenty of facilities too...  called Waldegraves
