Hi, my OH took Floyd out for a walk on Friday afternoon, when he was on his way back a woman was watching him coming back up the road, she stopped him to ask if he lived nearby, which he answered that he did, too which she told him her dog had parvo, he said that she had also put a sign out on her front gate to state this as well.  She went on to tell him that her dog had all the relevant vaccinations and that her vet thought it was a different strain of parvo, she also went on to tell him where she had normally walked her dog.
This has really got me worried, Floyd happened to have a vet check up Friday afternoon as well, so I mentioned this to the vet, he said that dogs that are vaccinated can still pick up diseases but there immune system is very likely to stop it from developing, I think that was what he was trying to tell me.  He said the only way that Floyd could pick up this disease say from her dog, would be that he would have to lick / eat or roll in the spot where her dog had gone to the toilet.
This still fills me with dread, worry and makes me feel sick to the stomach, the only time I have seen the effects of Parvo is on programmes like "Animal Cops Houston".
Is there anybody that can put my mind at rest or ease please.
Jane

I am the worlds worst worrier for my dog.

Please don't worry so much.
You can't wrap any one person, never mind anima,l in cotton wool all day.
If these things are going to happen then they will.
If you do all you can in way of vaccinations and normal hygeine, then that s it.

you just have to be aware but i would not worry to much as your dog will be unlikly to catch it if vaced againest it.
The chances are very slim.
try not to worry.
