Topic Dog Boards / Showing / CACIB Question
- By SB [gb] Date 18.07.08 06:46 UTC
Hi

We are importing a bitch from Germany in September (18 months old).  She is from a working kennel but has been to one breed show, where she was awarded the CACIB.  Does this prevent her from being shown in Post Graduate here (as would a CC in England?)

Thanks

when i had torsten the fcr over from sweden he was a champion in his own country so he had to go in open class at champshow over here in the uk,

but beacuse he wasnt a uk champion he could still enter open shows

i would ring the kennel club to find out more.

but my guess that she can go in pg classbeacuse she not won herself out on the uk kennel club ruling

The KC reg that cover this are:

F(A)3.In the following Definitions, a Challenge Certficate includes any Show award that counts towards the title of Champion under the rules of any Governing body recognized by the Kennel Club.

Ergo your bitch is not eligible for Post Graduate.

This was the rule that lost the OES it's Crufts BOB & CC a couple of years back

She should be able to go in Limit if she only has one CAC or CACIB.  Any awards counting towards a champion title are treated like CC's in class definitions, though things are slightly different with points as used in USA, Australia and formerly Ireland.

If in doubt enter in Open.

Thank you all, that is helpful.  I will double check with the Kennel Club but I thought she would have to go into Limit (unfortunately!)  Am looking forward to her coming and exhibiting her but she will look different to the English exhibits - leggier for a start and leaner as she is primarily used for hunting over there.  I would like to exhibit her so that she can be seen and people will know what they are like in their country of origin - it doesn't matter if she wins at a high level (which I don't think she will).

It is really exciting - we imported a male about 6 years ago and he is behind most of our stock in one way or another - but the showring absolutely hated him!  She will probably be more acceptable to the showring because she isn't quite as tall / lean as him.  Nevertheless, in Germany she is considered to be excellent so it will just be interesting to see what our judges make of her!  It amazes my other half (who is German) that we have altered the breed so much over here.  Temperament, mouths, coats, hunting ability are all very important over in Germany - our ring seems to prefer more exaggeratino and temperament doesn't seem to figure hardly at all in the decisions.  I suppose that's what makes showing so interesting!
