Does anyone know if there's a specialised rescue society that would deal with a Spanish Mastiff?

Ahh sorry don't.  As a fan of the breed, the breeder of my original SWD's has them as his guarding dog, I wish I could help but unfortunately can't.

His have always sounded brilliant as guard dogs but usually flop to the floor for a tickle of their belly.  Lovely dogs

probably not as not terribly common here... why don't you try one of the other mastiff breeds rescue societies though, sure they'd be willing to help.

Try www.bullmastiff-rescue.org.uk, they often have other mastiffs & are an excellent organisation

You could also try http://www.endangereddogs.com/

I know they help out a great deal with the American Bulldog & other breeds :)

I just didn't want anyone to think I'm using the forum as an advertisement, because I'm not! It's just a dog I know about, that's all.

Thanks for the ideas, guys; I'll pass them on to the dog's owner. :-)
