Topic Dog Boards / Health / Colloidal Silver for sore eyes
- By bint [gb] Date 15.07.08 10:47 UTC
Would be interested to know if anyone has found colloidal silver to be effective when used in the eyes?
Is it actually worth trying for mild conjunctivitis for dog or person?

I am using CS for that at this moment, have been doing it for a week but only once a day, so I may need to up the drop dosage :) It has slowed it down sort of, but she still has it.

Not that convincing then? Thanks for the reply.

conjunctivitis can take a long time to improve, I wouldn't knock colloidial silver.

Oh I'm not Perry, I use it for most things now. I just think I need to do it more often than  I am. :)

one of my dogs had a sore eye not so long ago, I bathed it with CS and it was fine within an hour or so. Am not sure about other conditions such as conjunctivitis

if I had sore eyes I would be willing to try it, lol (though have heard that cold tea bags are good for mild conjunctivitis....)

hope it gets sorted :)

I bought a bottle of CS a while ago after reading some good reports but then have recently read more scientific reports dismissing it's effectiveness so wasn't sure what to believe.
I'll maybe give it a go if the need arises and see what happens. A vet once told me to use cold tea bags to bathe eyes (I stupidly asked if decaf ones were ok!)
Thanks for the replies.
Missie hope your dogs eyes improve soon.

it was in answer to bint not you Missie!  I just thought that bint was not going to give it a chance :)

I've upped it to three times a day now, wiping constantly as the gunge comes out, and 2 or 3 drops in the eyes and I can now definately see an improvement :)
