Hi

I'm thinking of buying a dehydrator.  Has anyone got one and, in their opinion, would it be a good buy!

Is Dehydrator the same as a dehumidifier??

A bit fiercer Lea, it dries out food in the way you might do with fruit, say, in a low oven but more efficiently I believe.

I used to have one, but unless you're really serious about using it I wouldn't bother - it takes forever to dry things out!

I tried making a few things in mine - most notably banana chips and beef jerky.  The banana chips took 55 hours!  I have a dehydrator cookbook somewhere if you'd like it, I forgot my dehydrator when I moved :-( so not in need of it any more.

Meaty things absolutely stink the house out too.

Thanks for the reply Nikita and your experience.  I don't think I will bother as it would probably end up as another unused item of kitchen equipment that sits on my work surface and gets washed every couple of weeks because it has gathtered dust.  Thanks again
