Three of my dogs have come out in a mild skin complaint. The vet has given me malaseb and told me to use it every 3 days however I have heard other people say every day and someone else every other day.
Has anyone got anyone got any experience of using this stuff and how often have their vets said to use it.
As its the middle of the show season I want it gone quickly but dont want to stress them out.
Thanks
I was originally prescribed it for a dog with itchy paws and we were told to use it twice a week. Just recently we were given it for a dog with itchy skin and were advised to use it every 3 days.
Tip 1 - wet your dog first, then put Malaseb on with a sponge - it lathers up better and you don't need to use as much
Tip 2 - it is very strong, so rinse it off well
Because mud, grass and pollen makes my boy itch I am in the habit of sloshing him off after every walk anyway so using this stuff didn't phase him. You do need to leave the Malaseb on a while so you can either wash your other dog/s whilst you wait or play for a bit to stop them licking it off!
Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately mine was caused by dog food so they are back on low protien one.
I leave it for 15 minutes but I am lucky I have a shower room unfortunately one of my girls hates it so barks the whole time it is on :)

We had to bathe Louis every 3 days in it,from the very first week we had him ( unspecified skin condition!?) for about 4 months so much so that he has become a water baby :-D He only has to hear a tap being run or the shower going on, and he wants to have a bath with you!! He didn't mind waiting the 10 mins just playing about in the tub - but gosh, those 10 mins seemed soooo long!!!!!
That's why I now do it outside - luckily it's been warm enough - then we can play retrieve or practise heelwork to keep us busy whilst we wait!
