hi, i have got a 4 month old wheaten terrier that i am hoping to show in september when he is old enough but i am finding it hard to get information on how he should be groomed.  i have been told to both hand strip and chip and also that i should only ever use a flea comb on him and never to use a brush.  i am getting confused with all the different answers.  can anyone help or point me in the right direction.  many thanks

i'd suggest going to a show and finding some wheaten exhibitors. Then you can see them close up as well as getting the best advice and having a good day out. most people are friendly and quite happy to talk. i found that when i started showing, the more experienced people are usually always happy to help. or you could always try the breeder.

Good luck

You do not hand strip a soft coated wheaten. The coat needs combinf through and you scissor trim to tidy for the ring. Now much is needed will depend on the coat, they do vary amongst the various types, Irish, American and some in between. The breed club in the UK is very helpful, I imaging there is an Irish Club that could help you out.
