My father waited his whole life to get a giant schnauzer. Now that he is retired and can spend his every wakeing moment with his dog, he got one. He is having a problem with one of her ears, they are cropped and one stands up and one flops. He keeps it taped, but she is 13 months old and he is wondering if it is time give up. Does anyone have any advice? I would REALLY appreciate it. This dog is the center of his life.

Thanks,
Cheryl cllitke@carolina.rr.com

Hi Cheryl

This is a primarily UK board and ear cropping is illegal in this country so it is unlikely you will find many people with much experience in cropped ear care here. I would suggest your father goes back to his bitch's breeder for advice.

PS to the regulars - pleassseee don't follow this up with your opinions on this practice as it would be too easy for the trolls to do a wind up on this one :-)

Welcome to the forum.

Have you tried contacting the breed club for advice?

another way i read of once was to cut cardboard out-thin sort! cut it the shape of the ear-- glue it in with copydex and tape around it, ---leave me alone :( im only saying what i read

we used to make "racks" out of cardboard cones & micropore them up.....when I worked abroad I hasten to add!
