Topic Dog Boards / Health / Advice on using Chlorophyll needed

Hi everyone
Despite regular tooth cleaning, my Goldie has breath that could strip wallpaper. She's also, despite frequent brushing and bed washing, a bit too 'doggy' nowadays.  She's getting on for 14 so she can be forgiven of course, but somebody mentioned to me that the addition of liquid chlorophyll or chlorophyll tablets to her diet would help with these problems and also be of benefit to her general health.  Can anyone offer any advice on this. Also, if you can recommend a reputable brand or online site where I might buy this supplement I'd be very grateful. She drinks very little water, so adding liquid chlorophyll to her bowl would be a waste.  So I'm thinking that we'd either need to give her a drop of the liquid supplement in a syringe of water (which we use regularly to help her swallow the tablets she's on) or by adding chlorophyll tablets to her food. She weighs 32 kilos, and if anyone can help out with dosage as well that would be super.  Many thanks to you all.

Since chlorophyll is present in all green vegetables including grass why dont you just add greens to her diet if you believe it will be useful?
Biochemically speaking, the only benefits of giving chlorophyll would be the Magnesium content -as almost everything else is broken down rapidly by sunlight or by stomach enzymes. Only minute amounts of Mg are used by the body -the rest is eliminated.
Getting her to drink more would probably be more useful as it will encourage the excretion of urea and other waste chemicals, many of which contribute to the 'oldie smell'. Adding a little milk or honey to her water once or twice a day and offered as a treat, may kick start her thirst.

Johnson's Bitch tablets are basicaly Chlorophyll and mint, they do work tho ;)   Dosage would be on the packet and they are available from most pet shops ;)

Agree with Toolz re drinking, by drinking very little she will not be eliminating waste properly, adding water to her food is one way of ensuring that she gets enough ;)   when my old dog got to that age I started soaking his food in some warm water to make sure he got enough liquids ;)  Another trick is to make a nice broth with a chicken carcass or some bones and veggies - goes down a treat :)
