Hi, am embarking on getting a puppy and really want to feed natural diet, but am confused as to what actually consists raw meaty bones? Can anyone give me a clue?
Thanks!
Yes, bones wtih plenty of meat still on them. I feed them, but not exclusively, as mine get some mince and kidneys, liver, hearts, tripe, fish etc aswell. Meaty bones for mine are things like chicken wings, occasional whole chickens cut up, breast of lamb on the bone, lamb shanks, duck legs, pork ribs (still 'on the rack') pigs trotters, beef ribs, turkey drumsticks, whole rabbits (well, skinned with head and feet off, due to squeemishness!) I would like to give them pigs heads, but my stomach couldn't take it! I woudl also liek to get them vension, but have been unable to source it cheaply yet, although there is a venison farm nearby, so might try there.
I have considered chops etc, but wory the bones are 'choke sized' Plus, seeing my 3 1/2 month old pup swallow a single pork rib whole scared the life out of me (And taught me a valuble lesson about feeding large pieces!) so I am extra careful now.
