can anyone help? I am trying to find someone who breeds spoodles...
- By BethN [us] Date 19.07.02 16:40 UTC
Is that a cross between spaghetti & noodles ???? :D :D

Seriously, I am presuming it's a spaniel/poodle cross or something silimilar. I'm afraid I don't and I can't really imagine why you would not want one or the other rather than a cross. I'm afraid you probably won't have much luck as many on this board are opposed to this type of cross breeding/designer dogs thing ! If indeed, this one even exists, I have to say it's the first time I've ever heard this one.

Don't you remember seeing the spagetti trees on Tomorrow's World a few years ago - perhaps as you suggest they crossed it with a noodle tree :D

Still seems just a few years ago - oh well doesn't time fly (and it has given them plenty of time to do their cross pollination :D )

Has anyone noticed the two ads in this weeks 'Our Dogs' under crossbreeds (note the phone numbers) :(
- By Jackie H [gb] Date 20.07.02 06:53 UTC
Haven't seen Our Dogs this week, but if it's that well known north west store let me know and I'll see if we can make sure it is not in next week. Jackie

Actually the spagetti trees were on Nationwide so how many years ago was that!!! It was a april fool ..... arghhhhh well I only just remember it!!
- By Kerioak Date 20.07.02 07:22 UTC
Okay, who is going to do the research - we now have three programmes it was on
Tomorrows World
Panarama
Nationwide

(but do agree it was April 1st)

Yes it was Nationwide, and I remember it well!!!

Can you also remember the Great Dane Dachsie cross they had on, around about the same year!

Having been to the world show I saw a lovely dutch breed, that looked a bit like a springer with a curly coat. the coat was tight curls and the head smooth! It was called a Wetterhoun.

So guest there is no need to look for a cross breed, as if you research enough you should find what you are looking for in the recognised breeds, some of which are becoming quite rare! with a long established purebreed you know what you are getting.

Sorry Ladies , but it WAS Panorama ...1st April 1957. Go to google.com and type in Spaghetti Tree Panorama and you will find the relevant pages.

Now I'm not saying Nationwide didn't do it ...they may have ..but if you notice ..in my post I said it was black and white , so the Panorama one was first

:D

must have been repeated after then as I was born in 66 and remember watching it and being amazed :D
- By Brainless [gb] Date 20.07.02 09:21 UTC
Well Ntionwide must have copied them, as it was in the 70's. I wasn't born until 1964!
- By fleetgold [gb] Date 20.07.02 13:11 UTC
Quite correct, Panorama - with Richard Dimbleby (Jonathan and David's father). He was well known as an extremely serious and much admired and responsible commentator so many people were taken in. Nationwide may have copied it or else repeated the item from Panorama, but it was definitely Panorama. I remember seeing it, although as I was only 5 when the original was broadcast it may well have been a repeat I remember.

Did you ever get an answer? In the States the breed is called a Cockapoo!

I remember starting to organise a spaghetti-picking holiday on the Isle of Grain at the Youth Club I went to (when wheels were square :-) back in 1960, I think it was - some people said - oh yeah - it was on telly wasnt it - put us down. Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to take deposits !!!
- By eoghania [de] Date 31.12.02 10:17 UTC
Sorry David, but you're likely mistaken...
A cockapoo is a Cocker Spaniel and Poodle cross. That's been rather common for decades in the US. Not a breed, but a cross. Big difference. :)
A spoodle--- could be any spaniel, perhaps Springer + Poodle.

Still, why would anyone want either one confounds me. Snippy annoying little pests (cockapoos) and those who've read my past rantings know why :P :P :P
Happy New Year.
toodles

A cockapoo is a cute name for a cross breed, they are not a breed, as the parents are different breeds. :D
