You will probabaly find that people who feed Arden Grange will prefer that brand and Royal Canin users will prefer that brand.I now feed BARF but when we had GSD and when our current 4 dogs were small we always fed R.C with good results.Plus R.C do a breed specific food for GSD.Good luck.

Arden Grange was developed by a GSD kennel and they support a lot of GSD shows.  I know a lot of GSD owners that feed the Lamb and rice recipe to dogs that have had looseness with other foods.

I am biased as I do like the AG best, and when I won bags of RC was not as happy with what came out the other end.

Why not but a small bag of each and test them out?

I use RC Breed Specific (not GSD) and am happy with the results
