Hi could anyone help my friend please.
She has a terrier dog about 14 months old, she recently took the bitch to the vets as bumps started to appear on the dogs body with red sores around neck under collar and now fur is falling out where bumps are present.
The dog is not scratching and does not seem to be irrating her by means of scratching, but are making her a bit depressed.

She has taken her to the vets and the vet does not know what the cause is, first he gave her some special shampoo to bath the dog in, and has said he does not think it is mange or fleas.
She took the dog back to the vets after a couple of days as her dogs symptoms have gotten worse and has now been given stronghold to take.

The vet still is unsure of what the problem is, may be fox mange but still not sure.

The owner has thought hard as to what her dog has eaten, done in the last few days and can only think of her dog rolling in a field, when she went over to see what it was she was rolling in, there was nothing their, just grass.  When she got home with the dog, the dog began rolling again in the garden, when the owner looked the dog was rolling around on an ants nest, she has told the vet about all of this but vet still unclear to the problem?

she is concerned about her dog, as she seems depressed and can not go for walks as her body is quite sore and wearing a collar is painful.

I have not seen the dog, so can't help much with what it actually looks like, but feel the dog should be skin scrapped and perhaps blood test to investigate the problem.
If anyone can help this would be great.

Would have thought that the vet would have taken a scrape and some blood before trying various medication.

Hi, we had a simliar problem with our male rottie, he had sore patches and it was red etc, around his eyes and on his side and so on, our vet did not take any srapes or blood at first either she gave him some medicated shampoo and then the problem spread to his ears then she gave us ear drops, still no srape or blood, but luckily it cleared up, i still dont know what it was never will, but between the shampoo and the drops it cleared up, you dont think the ants have been biting the dog do you? it could be something as simple as that?
