If the facts and figures support the bite incident claim in the first sentence, then good for the Dutch Government :-)

Sure, congratulations for the Government of Dutch.

WOOP! WOOP!  For the Dutch government.
Lets hope that our own British government sees sense and brings in something similar-as needs to be done !!

Whoever wrote the report needs an arithmetic lesson - 1993 was only 15 years ago!!

Do you know, I never thought I'd say this, but reading some of the posts on the locked thread - attitudes of those who think it is perfectly natural and acceptable for pets to 'guard' and display their natural instincts, I'm not so sure lifting the ban would be the best thing!

Better not go there again JenP ;-) although I would like to take the opportunity to appologise to Rach85 for accusing her of removed a bit of post in the said thread.   She didn't, she just edited another bit in.  Still don't agree with either of the bits though :-)

Pit Bulls are naturally aggresive to other dogs, it is a trait that has been bred into them over many generations, they are however NOT naturally aggresive to people and if they are this is when they should be destroyed.

Utter nonsense by saying that they are naturally aggressive with other dogs - you could say that about many a terrier breed such as a Yorkshire terrier, cairn or Airedale as they always seem to bark and at aggressive when meeting a strange dog, the ones I've met anyhow, With dog training classes and early socialization you will be surprised what a good dog they are with any animal- it is stupid people who make their dogs aggressive by not doing this vital early training to begin with.
It is narrow minded attitudes that keep the breed ban in place.
IT IS THE DEED NOT THE BREED.

My comment is not meant against the breed, it is a fact well documented by reputable Pit Bull breeders in the States, and also if you read my comment you would have noticed that I said it was a trait that had been bred into them over many generations by people wanting to use the dogs to fight,,,,,,,,,,,,so please don't get on your high horse with me, I am a staunch supporter of DNB and am at present the "Carer" of a PB who is going through "proceedings" in court to have him destroyed and to be honest with you I have never met a nicer more well mannered boy in my life, he is a gentleman with all people he meets and shows no signs of aggression to any of my bitches (I let him run freely with all of my Show bitches) and he is very tollerant of all of our male dogs and is kennelled along side them on a daily basis.

So please dont get moralistic with me, I amongst others fight for this breed on a daily basis and have sat in a vets on many occasions with a gentle dog whilst it has been put to sleep by a court order and it  has done nothing wrong except been born a Pit Bull.
