And she is feeling so sorry for herself. I am not sure if she is in pain, she is wimpering quite a bit but walking about ok, eating, drinking and has had a wee. I guess I am an over anxious Momma, LOL, but is this a usual state of affairs on op day?
Thanks,
Liz

Very much normal Liz.  She will be quite sore for a few days, then as the stitches start to tighten with the wound healing, she will be uncomfortable again.  I normally sleep downstairs with the bitches the first couple of nights after the op, just for a bit of moral support and because I don't want them climbing the stairs for a couple of days.

My goodness, thank you for your quick reply. That is a relief to hear it is pretty normal. I am going to sleep downstairs at least tonight to keep an eye on her and as you say, for moral support. Poor girl, it is so upsetting to see her in pain:(
Thanks again,
Liz

Nothing worse than seeing your "baby" in pain.  I've got it to go through again shortly with my youngster and am dreading it!  Doesn't matter how many operations your dogs have, it's still a v. worrying time.  If you have another one going through an op. I can recommend giving arnica a few days before and then again for a few days after as it really helps heal all the bruising.

We had one who was really sorry for herself, I was in tears as I felt so sorry for her, like you slept with her in our room for a couple of nights (Bungalow, no stairs). The other one was trying to jump into the car on the way back from the vets - she was more trouble because she wanted to jump about, and to think I put off spaying her because the first one upset me so much :-D
Took about 12 hours for them to get over the anaesthetic completely I think, then they were both fine.

each of my three girls had other things done to them when they got spayed, that put the spaying on the back burner so to speak.  I completely forgot all about the spay. Our vet is so good and only makes about an inch incision and two stiches, so its very easy to forget.
