One of my beardies  has a rash on her belly just on the area that has no fur I know this is a reaction to the grass as it only appears during this time of year , she has been checked at the vets and he is of the same opinion.
she is on Piriton twice a day , I have tried different creams ie calamine lotion, e45  to stop the itch which dont seem to work.

does anyone have any remedies that have worked for them ????

I have exactly the same problem with my staffy except he makes it worse by sliding down the stairs on his tummy! I've used Boots non scented baby lotion (on the advise of our vet) on him and it's taken away the itchyness and redness. I've also found giving him a bath in a non medicated shampoo helps but it's not really practical to dump him in the bath every night.

Hi Roni!! I haven't been on here for AGES!  (I own Ollie the Bearded Collie, 3 years old last monday, do you remember?) How are your beardies?

I think Ollies got the same problem re. grass. He's been itching and scratching himself raw! and it's really worrying me. He's been to the vets, she gave him steroid tablets and cream to stop the itching (but it hasn't) and is costing us a fortune. She thought at first it was insect bites but I'm sure it's grass because it's worse when he returns from the park. The vet said he can't have allergy tests for a few weeks after the steroids have finished, but I'm wondering whether to give him Piriton? If so, should I try liquid or tablets and how much should I give?

My Mother uses a preventer (probably not much use to you at mo, as I suspect your looking for a 'reliever' but tip for future!)
One of her whippets gets the same reaction to certain grassess, she uses a barrier spray from the States (will find out and re-post) but when I know that when she runs out she often uses......

I cant actually remember the name of it.. think its something 'petal' Its that stuff we always recommend on here for people with allergies to stroking dogs..d'you know what I mean?? darn... I better re-post when (if!!) I can make sense!!

I have the same problem with Travis,He has an antihistamine everyday and I find chilled aloe vera gel works great for soothing the problem,I hate to see the warmer months coming as this is a problem he suffer's with every year
