I would like to buy a kaninchen size wire dachshund. Color is black and tan or wild boar.
Somebody tell me where I can buy kaninchen dachshund. I live in Los Angeles, CA in America.
My e-mail address is Lovepin2001@aol.com

Sorry I'm in the UK and don't really know what you are asking for. Jackie

Kaninchen seems to be the German term for "Toy." Direct translation means "Rabbit".
"Zwerg" is the next size meaning "Dwarf". (minature)
So it seems as if Dachshunds are moving into 3 sizes from the FCI German website
Hunderassen nach Gruppen

Toy, Minature, Standard.

Boar colored is likely the Wirehaired salt and pepper coloring we all know and love :D

Hope this helps a bit to clarify things.

Good Morning Everyone.

Sara has beat me to it, it is a size :-)

There is a past thread on this subject somewhere, I will try to find it for you :-)

I adore the "boar" wire haired ones! They just look German, don't they? And I mean that in the nicest way! :)

Thanks, so do I take it that the guest is looking for a miniature wire hair with salt & pepper colour? Jackie

If I ever had a dachsie I would have a standard wire. I think I would prefer one from the continent though, with more daylight under it!

All sizes and coat varieties of Dachs are popular pets in Poland where I have family, as most people live in apartments. They all have much more leg than the ones we see in UK, and are very active and agile.

When I was stationed at Bitburg, I'd go to the German Shooting club for firing practise. There was a 2 year old Standard Dachs wirehaired peppery coated dog who just loved to play with me. He'd be so joyous in his greeting, it always brought a smile to my face. :D His owner was a Forrestmeister who lived next door. The dog had longer leg, shorter back, and more agile than the standard dachs. in the US, even though he was around 40+ pounds or so. Lovely guy --- I felt so "chosen" by him, since he ignored everyone else except for his owner. :D :D :D :D
