Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Show on sunday panic!!!!!
- By Gemini05 Date 05.06.08 10:38 UTC
Hi my boy has a Ch.show on Sunday, sadly I am not taking him as I am on puppy duties so my OH is taking him on his own very brave!

The thing is I a turning my house upside down trying to find his show lead and collar and it seems to have disappeared!
I don't know what to do if I can't find it, he only has basic colourful leads for efveryday use, help!! ha ha ha !

also nervous that my OH is taking my boy to the show, as my boy is only used ot me showing him, walking him etc: Told my OH ages ago to go to the ringcraft class with him to practice but he never did, but he has been walking him after work on his own and says he listens to him and walks nicely, but I am still worried!!!
I need a strong coffee I think,,,,,,

I'm sure he'll do fine once he is there. We are going to be at the show as well.
I have seen other handlers use non show collar's and leads in the show ring and the dog's not been penalised unless it does have an effect on the dogs movement.

I would get your OH to start training with your boy in the house for the next few days, somethings got to be better than none at all.

What class is your boy going to be in? We are in Junior..

Have you checked the car?  My show stuff lives in the car.  At least its a champ show, so plenty of stalls to buy a new one.

shame you're taking him, are you sure you cant get OH to take over puppy duties!!

Good luck to your OH and your boy, I'm sure he'll behave for him.

He is entered for Junior too!!!
Can't leave OH in charge of puppies as I can't drive so would not be able to get to show! :)
I am going to look once again in the 'dog cupboard' hopefully its in there, otherwise will wash his black and silver fabric lead and hope it looks a bit smarter then it does now!
My boy is going to the groomers tomorrow, as with the pups here just have not had a chance to bath and tidy him up.
xx

I'll look out for your other half then in the ring..
Do you have idea how many have been entered into this class?

I know that they have a huge number entered for the bitches, more so than the dogs.

I found it!!! yipeeeeeeeee!! :)
But I also found a leak in the cupboard coming from the washing machine outlet pipe :(
The cupboard is full of odds and sod and had to empty it before I found the show lead, then found the leak, it stinks!
Oh well yet another thing that needs doing! :)

I am not sure of the numbers for the Junior group, its nice to have competition but also nice when there are only a few too!!! The last show we went to was in December and my boy got placed 2nd in puppy dog I think, there was only five in the group I think!!

Yes you will see my OH there he will be the one as white as a sheep being dragged around the ring by my boy!!!
Told him he needs to dress smart, to impress! my boy behaved at the last show, but still didn't show his true movement as he was more interested in sniffing the other dogs!!!  Hopefully this time he will strut his stuff, I have been taking him to ringcraft classes but since my girl was in late pregnancy we did not go again.!

Just found your page in the club book.
I went to that show in Henfield, though i hadn't entered mine at that show. His brother i think took the 1st place in that class from what i recall.

Was your other half showing him then??? I know that one of the puppies really played up in the ring... I thought typical, they really have a knack of showing you up when you least expect it.

No I showed him at that show! :)
My boy was ok, had to go round the ring an extra time though, I entered him for the puppy award too, we got Reserve! so pleased with him what ever he does, dogs are dogs!! :)
I was even more nervous that day as my mentor was there to watch over us!!

My boy has just got back from the groomers! his appointment started at 1030am this morning! LoL
He looks stunning, and he knows it!!!  I now searching for a bib to put on him to preserve his clean white blaze!!! ha ha ha

My boy has never been to the groomers, i've always done it. Is it worth paying out the money for it, as in does it make a huge difference from when you do it to the groomers?

Just wanted to say good luck to your OH im sure they will both be fine :D

Sarah2, thanks for the good luck wish, :)
I would like to wish everyone good luck this weekend for any shows they maybe entered in.

I think taking my boy to the groomers is much much better then me doing it myself! with having such a big breed it is difficult to bath him, and I am no good at cutting around the feet to keep them tidy either!!! :) :)
I would love to know all the trates of being a groomer, so that I could make my dogs look as good as they do when they have been there, but I guess its just like us when we go to the hairdressers, your hair feels great, smooth and is a perfect style that looks great, but after a couple of washes you just can't seem to get it to look the same as when you came out the salon!!! (well thats what happens to me anyway!)
