Hi there, i never had a dog before and recently i bought a bullmastiff. It is only 5 weeks old and i have no idea whats the best food to feed it. I am pretty sure it still needs milk but i cant get any puppy milk formula in my town area. I did ask people around what is the best to replace it, the answer i've got is Dutch Lady Milk Powder for babies....! Should i give it a try? or i should just feed it with fresh milk? I need some precious advise please!!

Definitely don't give the puppy cows milk, as this gives a lot of pups an upset tummy. Of course the pup is far too young to be away from it's mum - I'm not sure of the circumstances surrounding your purchase/rescue of it? Anyway at 5 weeks old the pup should be weaned and able to eat real food. Did the person you bought it off say what it was eating? If not get a good quality puppy food if you can and soften it with a little warm water and see how it goes. I've not heard of the milk powder you mentioned, it may not be available here though and this is a UK based forum. If you want to give him/her some sort of milk goats milk is usually well tolerated.

What about canned food? Pedigree Puppy food?

Pedigree for puppy? Is it fine to feed it with canned chicken pedigree for puppy then? From where i come from, i cant find a shop or vet selling puppy milk powder, I might need to order it from else where.

Would definately not feed Cows milk, the pups cannot convert the lactose in it. I would get hold of some Goats milk from your supermarket. Have you looked online for : Lactol, Whelpi, Esbilac, Skinners puppy milk, Dodson & Horrell puppy milk to name a few that may be over in your country

Hi there, thanks for the replies. i cant find puppy milk at all in my area but im trying the puppy dry food, mashed it with some warm water and seems like he is liking it. I went to clean up his pooh earlier, there were some throwing on the floor and i assumed he must had been vomitted. Is this normal for a 5 weeks old puppy? What would have caused it?
