Yesterday while walking all five of mine, one of the Pugs started sneezing. Within minutes, the sneezing became so violent, that his little back legs nearly went due to him not getting enough oxygen. Also, he was closing his right eye while sneezing and soon he started to headbutt the ground with the force of it all. We sat him down and tried to soothe him by massaging his throat etc and I saw that he had a pink discharge coming from his right nostril. I took him home and he succeeded in making his chin bleed from the headbutting. Then he stopped sneezing and I thought he must have expelled a grass seed. He was unable to eat his dinner 'though because the smell triggered more sneezing fits. This morning, as soon as he was on his feet, the sneezing started again and the discharge was green and pink. Once that came out the discharge became clear. I was just about to ring the vet when I saw a tiny speck of green (grass) at the opening to his nostril. There was no way he was going to allow me to use tweezers and I was afraid of it disappearing back up again. I sat him on a table and got a piece of dry kitchen paper, working on the theory that the secretions were quite heavy and wiping his nose sidewards might make the wet grass stick to the paper. It took me two or three goes and then out it came! I kid you not, because I've measured it-it was 7.5 cms long! No wonder his eye was twitching, poor Gilbert. I then hand fed him scrambled egg, which he ate with great gusto!
