Im due my litter in approx 3 weeks  does anyone have any thoughts on Large breed puppy food there arent that many on the market and im wondering whether they are worth buying or whether  it is another ruse by the dog food companies to make more money,in the wild dogs wean pups off onto what they can bring home not high protein dog food wild pups would only increase their own protein levels when they start hunting for themselves months later, what does anyone else think, Im stuck as to know what to do Thanks

You need to find out what the breeder is feeding the litter, and buy some of what they use, you can always wean the pup off that food gradually if you are not happy with the breeders food.
I use Burns puppy food complete, and I have a large breed too.
Good luck with your new pup!! xx

We carried on with the food the breeders fed their puppis then gradually changed over. Our first 2 pups had the same food as we planned to feed anyway. We gave all ours Royal Canin Baby dog - Giant breed then after 12 weeks went onto Royal canin puppy giant breed.Good luck.

I had a large breed litter in febuary, they are all in new homes now but on this occasion i decided to op for eukanuba large breed puppy food, i have tried many types on previous litters but decided to use eukanuba as i have now become a breeders club member so get it quite reasonable. My puppies thrived on this and i found that their 'poos' were less in quantity and well formed (with other makes they have been quite runny) My breed are renound for eating lots but have never had a problem weaning straight on to this.

I have used Nutro with an in-whelp bitch and subsequently weaned the pups onto it.  Thought it was excellent and would totally recommend it.
