we have a 2 year old bullmastiff and a friend of ours has her sister from the same litter, they have both got bald patches down there sides. The vets have checked for thyroid along with loads of other tests. As anybody heard of this before, apart from bald patches they are both fit and well.Any answers please to:-kelvs99@aol.com THANKYOU
In Dobes and having had thyroid ruled out, if they are both bitches it is possibly hormonal. Sometimes changing diet can help, other times once the hair has gone the growth bit (follicle?) is damaged and it won't grow back.
Another thought bearing in mind a different thread - are they of a dilute colour?

Hello Guest
I have this problem with one of my girl bullmastiffs It took three blood tests to determine whether she had hypothyroidism . Unfortunetely for me in the end it was . so far it is not in the other bitches from that litter . I am afraid it came up after her booster vaccinnation . I feel if she had not got the booster she would now be a champion with no bald stripy bits .It is very upsetting and it now means the I cannot take a litter from this gorgeous bitch . I will send you some info if you like , Mari

And me please Mari. Megan gets thin/bald patches on her hips after her seasons. She's been tested for hypothyroidism, but only once, and years ago.
