Hi all my girl had a slip mating for 6 mins yesterday having second mating today on day 13 & 14 she is not flagging very much but will let the stud dog mount her. She has had all the tests done for her breed all are clear. So how many of you have had slip matings and have had alitter fromthat mating.

when you say slip mating for 6 minutes, were the dogs just held together for 6 minutes, do you know the deed was done!
i have had several matings that were just slips and have only had one bitch concieve, she had just 2 babies which is very small in my breed, maybe you will get a tie on the next attempt she may be just a day or two too early, hope you are successful :)

If the mating lasted 6 minutes without them being held together then I would not call that a slip mating, just a brief tie.

It only needs to be about a minute to be successful, which is why sometimes slip matings produce results, but sometimes not.

I would agre, unless this is a bred where the bitches are big and the boys small and ties are less common, then I would say she was not quite ready and you should hopefully get a good tie today or tomorrow.

As a bitch owner I would certainly not be happy with just a slip mating.

Agree with Brainless - this wouldn't be considered a slip mating in my opinion - just a very short tie.  Good luck with your next attempt.

My girls last litter was a result of a very short tie of 6 mins and then two slip matings - result 11 pups.  Her litter before was from two matings with ties of 35 mins each - this was 6 pups.  She gave more indication of being ready with the litter of six but less puppies resulted.

I do hope everything works out for you - it always seems such a long time to wait to know whether they are in whelp or not.  Fingers and paws crossed for you.
