Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Is Senior food good or bad?
- By Marieukxx [gb] Date 11.05.08 08:05 UTC
My two are 12 and 10. I give them JWB senior as they are older plus it's light which I thought would be good as one puts on weight easily and I've been trying to get his weight down. He's been steadily losing weight on this which I wanted him to do. However they seem to have gone off it a bit. Is the adult stuff more tasty? Does senior food have extra stuff in it for older dogs or is it just them same but less fattening? It adult food or senior food better for my boys? I've been reading so much about what's good and what's bad I am now totally confused. Help please.

senior food is lower in fats etc to maintain weight as a dog gets less active in old age.  They also contain joint supliments to help with common old age problems such as arthiritus and they are produced in a different way, more air goes into the mixture therefor making the kibble easier to crunch, done on the assumption older dogs teeth become more brittle, it also eases the crunching they have to do!
