It is for cleaning the white areas. It should be rubbed into any yellow bits and then brushed out and should take slight stain with it. Kennel Club rules say that nothing should remain in the coat at time of judging, other than water.
With short coated breeds I have seen people use baby oil to put a shine on the toenails (big dogs).
I imagine with your breed you would want to ensure the folds were all clean and dry and perhaps something like Vaseline rubbed in to prevent chafing??? Baby wipes to wipe up any drool, eye wipes to clan around eyes and generally ensure the dog is clean.
Baby wipes a re a good idea if your pup gets a bit loose from excitement, you don't want skid marks, LOL :D
Oh don't bath just before the show as often the short coated breeds can get a bit dandruffy right afer a bath.
