We used to have this problem in a big way, it has now improved, though there are still some friends he jumps at a little but he isn't jumping at all at most people, and even where he is it isn't like he's on a spring anymore, just front feet off the ground a bit, then back down again by himself.
For a few days we got all our friends to come to the door and knock as usual, then if he jumped at them they just turn round and walk back out again without saying anything to him at all, wait a few seconds then doing it again, at first this was very time consuming, with people taking upwards of 5 minutes to get in the door, so you need to persuade some really good friends to come and help you with the training. I felt it was important to not let him get any positive reward for jumping during this training period, so if anyone else came to the door, I would shut him in his crate for a few minutes until they went, so he couldn't jump on any unprimed guest.
He just seemed to get the idea that jumping up meant visitor left, and improved so much.

I had a rescued staff x rottie who would do this and so I put her on a short lead and when anybody came to my house I told them first not to make eye contact, until she is calm well sitting anyway, and I would stand on the lead dangling down she could on jump up so far but not get her paws onto people after about 10 bouncy leaps she realised her jumping up didn't get her anywhere so she stopped after a couple of days .
Of course when they do realise they can't move as freely as they normally would and they don't bother trying to jump up [all paws on the ground] do give them lots of cuddles and tell them how wonderful they are and release them. :)
