Topic Dog Boards / General / Naming litter but no kennel name
- By level42 [gb] Date 30.04.08 14:43 UTC
Hi,

Don't know if this will make sense but....
Can anyone tell me if a breeder doesn't have a kennel name registered can the same word be used for two puppy's kennel names (but not at the beginning of the name, just somewhere in it)?

Thanks

If you do not have a prefix, then repeated words in registrations for puppies will not be accepted in any part of the name.

If the KC name the pups they will use the Ken***** affix such as kenmilitro, Kenmillix etc  If you have an affix for example Sunshine is your affix you can then repeat a word in the title such as Sunshine Midnight star, Sunshine Midnight Rain and so on a so forth. Hope that helps

I was lucky, The breeder allowed me to pick my pups kennel name

I would never allow someone to name the pups as I pick names to a system, though I might offer them the choice of name for their pups (before they are tattooed).

Along with most serious breeders I spend ages on thinking up the pups registered names. :D

Sure it isn't always the case but those litters that are named by the kennel club because the breeders don't want to bother strikes me as being a sign of an uncaring/casual attitude.

The Op isnt asking the Kc to name her puppies, as I read it. Just needs advice re can she use the same word in two pups names.

Have a look on the litter reg form, it gives detailed instructions on there about the same word being used. if in doubt, send the names on an email to the kc and ask them if they would be acceptable, or for advice.

I would think eg....'grey dizzy girl' and 'shes a dizzy girl' would be allowed, well the dizzy bit as an example lol...you never know whos named what..what :)

Thanks Calmstorm, that is what I was asking :)

Agree Brainless with regard the KC naming, it is suprising in BRS how many litters are of the ken**** prefix.
