hi all i was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on using a halti you see bailey is gettin to that stage where she is a nightmare on the lead for pulling and becoz she is such a big and chunky staff she is really strong and when im walking both dogs together i struggle.
my nan suggested using a halti on bailey but the problem im having is she will not keep it on.
when i get it on her she will refuse to walk or if i do manage to get her to walk she will try her hardest to get it off and everytime she does.
i really dont know what else to try

My Dobe hated his Halti at first, but I carried on, and now walks perfectly on it.

Although he has managed to shake it off a couple of times.

I had a boxer previoulsy that wasn't great on the lead until I put a harness on him, worked wonders.

As well as spending time putting the headcollar on in the house with treats so he spends more and more time with it on distracted till he gets used to it, you could also try a different design of headcollar. The halti does tend to ride into the eyes and twist on the nose which is uncomfy to a lot of dogs. Other makes are canny, gentle leader, k9 bridle, dogmatic of which im sure there are more but my brainpower has gone at this time in the evening.

The K9Briudle site has videos showing how to introduce and use a head collar.
