Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Raw detox
- By misswager [gb] Date 21.04.08 20:49 UTC
I have switched to Raw...just over a week ago, he was fine on chicken, did great. No runs or anything. After a week I added a bit of minced beef. And he has had the runs (explosive), and been very sluggish. I am not feeding him for 24 hours.

Has anyone else experienced "detox"???
If so what symptoms with what food???
I am just interested.

I'm now on week 4 for my 2 puppies and almost week 2 for the older guys and have had no problems, however they have always had some mince in their diet.Hopefully they haven't picked up a bug and your boy is just a little sensitive to the minced beef. Was it defrosted properly etc?maybe worth going back to the chicken when he is feeling better.I hope it works out o.k with the RAW.

the book on raw i'm reading says that a detox is pretty common so hopefully its just that. i hope he's alright!

he is fine today. He was hungry this morning and I gave him some chicken portions. I defrosted it properly etc etc. I will try him again in a few days. I might get some extra lean mince and gradually giv it to him. Then after a while add some economy mince in there. The mince I gave him was economy...Maybe it was too fatty... we will see.

I now only feed mine raw minced beef, lamb, tripe or tripe/meat mix.  When I tried minced chicken or turkey it gave them the runs but they can eat chicken wings ok.

I guess each dog is different and wont react the same to food... I am placing my first bulf Raw order...then a freezer to follow!! :)
