Hi Guest
If you are *breeding* have you already started your line or is this enquiry an enquiry for a foundation bitch?
Have you been to any shows? Have you met any german breeders? What lines do you like/have?
I have IW's and live in England. For me to be able to help you in any way I suggest you join the forum and get chatting to Philippa, Sharon & I properly. :)
Look forward to hearing from you again perhaps.
Nicky
Hi Nicky
You say you have IW, I wondered if you know my friend Hazel?, she was awarded the bitch CC at Crufts with her bitch Ebony Empress of Nutstown.

Hi Longdog
Yes, I know her. Saw her at South Wales on Friday with her puppy. :) Haven't been introduced as such though.
Nicky
Hi Nicky
Ah yes thats the one who thinks he is a Dachie :)
Next time you see her go and introduce yourself and tell her you spoke to me on here.
What is your affix and your dogs names and Ill ask her if she knows you.
I just love wolfhounds after meeting and getting to know Hazels, gentle giants. My youngsters think her pup is great fun to play with :) What a sight 2 whippets and a wolfie spinning on their leads, trying to play, at the side of the ring at Blackpool!!

Hi Longdog
Affix is *Cairnstorm* and we have two Wolfies.
We are showing both this year Rodrick is *Hydebeck Rodrick Hamilton* and he is 4 and his daughter *Hydebeck Bayley of Cairnstorm*, she is 2.
I don't usually handle Bayley, as she is better behaved without me, :) so I get her breeder to do it. She got 1st in her class @ Crufts (special yearling bitch). :D
If I see Hazel @ Leeds I will go over and say I've been chatting to you on the board.

Hi Nicky, any chance of you getting up to the IWLCC Funday at South Brandon? Megan is too old, and Lewis not fit, but I thought I'd take Lewis along, and maybe a deerhound or two to have a run at the lure :-)

Hi Sharon
Have often thought about lure coursing. Think Bayley would be good at it as she is incredibly athletic and very, very quick, all the practice she gets chasing our little Black & Tan Terrier, Six, about the garden! :)
Where is South Brandon & when?

Hi Nicky, it is in Co Durham - a bit far north for you I know, but there are other meetings further south. The web site is http://www.iwlcc.co.uk/
Lure coursing is great fun. We used to run deerhound lure courses here among other places. Have to admit that many of the deerhounds weren't that keen, but we were using an unsophisticated home constructed lure then, which didn't 'turn' well, and a lot of the deerhounds that attended were regularly worked on live prey, so they just couldn't see the point in chasing a plastic bag (or on one occassion my old bright red longjohns ;-)). Those that ran, ran well, but a lot of them just sat there and laughed at their owners when slipped :-). We often had other breeds along, and how they performed varied. There weren't many wolfhounds, but most of those that did come were enthusuastic. (My Megan loved it, as did Lagan, though Corrib who was an avid and often successful live hunter disdained the lure). The salukis, like the deerhounds, mostly had worked live prey and were usually not interested past puppy/sapling age. One afgan came a few times, and it ran with great passion, but unfortuanately not usually in the same direction as the lure :-)!. The various whippets, greys and lurchers that turned up almost all ran well whether they'd done any live hunting/coursing or not.
In the US, where I'm sure you know, lure coursing is well attended and well organised, they set out complicted twisting lure courses and most deerhounds, salukis and wolfhounds seem to run the lure well, as do greys, salukis, whippets and other sighthounds. I believe that the IWLCC has a proper US style lure, so I imagine that the wolfies have a ball :-).

Hi Sharon
Yeah, just a bit! ;) We be down yer in Devon! :D
Will definately check it out if it comes a bit further south though! You've got me really interested now. As I said I think Bayley will love it but I don't think Rodrick would be v.interested.
Is the web address the address for Gill Griffin's club?

Because there has been a break-away faction.
Glad you e'd the guest poster, let me know if they get back to you. :)
Vive La Champhounds!

Hi Nicky, if the dog enjoys it, lure coursing is definitely to be recommended :-). It has some plus points over the 'real' thing for the humans too - ie a nice warm house with refreshements not too far away :D.
I've not been along to an IWLCC event as I haven't had an IW young enough to think of running since they set up, and Lewis isn't fit enough yet So I'm not sure why I got the flyer but I do know that its to do with Gill Griffin. I also knew that there were ructions, but not much about them. I've been so inactive in the breed over the last number of years that my IWC membership had lapsed, tho' the IWS subs were on direct debit. But now I'm interested, so if you or Phil would e-mail me the gory details ...... :D.
No word from the guest as yet :-(.
