Okay I have a feeling our pup is being completely spoiled - sometimes in a bid to keep the peace (keep him occupied chewing when he is going loopy or we are trying to eat etc) He gets a new puppy rawhide every two or three days. Food is the secret with training, particularly recall and his standard puppy training biscuits just do not cut the mustard. When in the house teaching sit, down, paw etc he will do it for those but he won't come back for them whilst out so he needs something tastier. He usually gets chopped up sausages (courtesy of the sandwich shop next door) left over chicken/turkey or the latest thing we have moved on to is tinned small hot dog sausages - he will have two or three of these a day chopped into small pieces for training. Since we started using these he will do just about anything :) it's great. so in general he will get a couple of hot dog sausages or chipolatas chopped up when we are out, a handful of puppy training biscuits in the house and a third or so of a small rawhide per day.
I have cut own his food by c50g per day (he could be on 420g per day) Is this two many treats? He is a big GR, 14 weeks old and having a few training sessions a day - for which food is definately the way forward - we are taking him out twice a day. Does this sound about right or is he getting too many treats?
Thanks OZ xx
