Sorry I'm starting another thread people!  I've found all your advice, so far, absolutely fantastic!  I'm new to puppy owning and have a lot of questions.

How long should my puppy sleep for during the day?  She's up early (5 am ish) and has a mad hour where she runs around manickly, then breakfast, toilet, and into crate at 8.30 am whilst I take the kids to school.  She sleeps in the crate until around 11 am, toilet again, mad 30 mins lunch, toilet and then she takes herself to bed by about 1 pm ish until around 3.30 pm. Another mad hour or so, dinner, toilet etc. and takes herself back to bed again around 6 pm ish until her last feed at 8 pm, toilet etc and settles down in bed again until we take her out for last toilet at 11 pm.  Do you think she sleeps too much?

that sounds pretty normal.  Even as an adult my dog only appears to be awake for about 6 hours per day and grabs snoozes wherever she can. If we are out for the day/night she will stay awake for as long as necessary but as soon as she is home or somewhere she can lie down she is zonked out again.  gee, it's a tough life being a loved and cared for dog ;)

That's ok then!  I was starting to be a bit worried.  Thought she ought to be playing and running around more.  Was worried she might not be getting enough attention, so went to sleep instead!  Wish I could sleep for that long.  Lol!

They grow when they sleep apparently...

Sounds fine.  I have a 9 week old and routine is similar to yours, although she gets up around 6.30 (when I get up bleary eyed).  Gradually move things around so they suit you as well like when you want to go out.

Yep sounds pretty normal to me!

Just think of her in terms of a human baby. They eat, poop, are awake for a short while, then sleep for a few hours then it all happens again. Even adult dogs like to snooze between other activities in their 'busy' schedule ;-)

I have a little 9week old shih tzu pup and she has quite a few naps in the day.
