Does anyone know best wormer for puppies. Mine will be due their first worming next week. I used panacur on my last litter but have read some scary stories on here about it, though I had no probs. I used milbemix on mum this pregnancy and was wondering if their was an alternative to panacur. My vet only reccomends panacur.

We got drontal from our vets

I am using panacur for this litter and on previous litter never had a problem , if it worked fine last time why change it?
I think you will always find for and against on any kind of product .
good luck

i use panacur liquid 10%, and have never had any problems with puppies or my adult dogs, only thing with it is its an administer for 3 day one, where as drontal is one day
always use drontal, seems to be very very gentle on babies tummies and never had any problems, get it from Hyperdrug, they dont charge packing and postage on worming preparations and they arrive within 48 hours.

i was told to use pancur paste, you just syringe it into the side of the mouth, do it at 2weeks old then 5, when you do it at 2weeks, worm the mother too with whichever you normally use, drontal is excellent its 1 tablet per every 10kg wieght, probly need bout 1 n half tablets

I ahve used Panacur liquid on my litters for years and years. However my pugs last year looked alittle wormy at 8 weeks, even though regularly wormed. I changed to Drontal for 10 week worming and it was great! Am planningn on using that from now on, and love the fact that it is a single does, as opposed to 3 days with Panacur.
I used drontal for mine last year, bought online with tablets for the rest of my lot.....no problems at all (once I got the hang of delivery to the pups ;) )
I too have heard of bad experiences with panacur, but as I haven't used it myself I can't really comment, but I was happy with drontal and would use it again

I nearly lost a pup once with Panacur, and know someone who actually did lose one. I think for some odd reason , certain retriever pups are sensitive to it on the second worming. It's fine with the adults.
Obviously it must be fine for other breeds.

I've only ever used Drontal on my dogs and puppies. Never had a problem and it's easy to administer. Won't change either - especially as from Hyperdrug it is a lot cheaper than the vet and delivered to my door - fast!
