If there is a mating where bitch wont hold the dog could it be because bitch is not ready. Thnx

Id say more then likely if you have all the tests done to make sure she is already ovulating.
If the bitch is maiden it can take some more perserverance as she wont know what to do as such but someone may correct me if im wrong, but I dont think you need a tie to get the dam pregnant its just more of a fail safe.

Sure loads more info to come :-P

A slip mating can be just as productive as a tie, but in my experience slip matings are not necessarily casued by the bitch not being ready.

Have you had your bitch seen by a vet, see if anything wrong internally? A frend  I know, their bitch had a internal problem that was only picked up by chance. The bitch had to have surgery in the end and she never had any pups because of it. It was due to a small piece of over lapping skin or something in the wrong place if  I remember right, just inside the bitch.

Agree with Gwen about it not being because the bitch is not ready, we had two slip matings and have just had a litter of 7 , so the bitch was obviously ready !

We had a Pomeranian come to our boy recently.  They just had slipped matings and she did produce a pup, unfortunately vet waited all day to do a C-section and the pup was dead when born!  So annoying as earlier in the day they could tell it was still alive.  £800 fee on top too!!!

In reply to perrodeagua, boy I would have been devastated.  Having a breed that also has very small litters, I would expect my vet to jump to it.  Hope they changed their vet!
