I've treated my 20 week old Yorkie (and my other two as a precaution) for ear mites with Otodex and it hasn't killed them. I followed instructions and even did one extra recommended drop each day for an extra day. Can anyone recommend another brand of ear mite treatment? I am aware that stronghold will kill them but really would prefer to use an ear drop. Years ago we used to use Johnsons ear drops which contained pyrethrum the main ingredient which killed them but not sure if they still do this product and haven't had a chance to look round the shops and check as just discovered the ear mites are still present tonight. Any information/advice will be greatly appreciated.

I get drops called Canaural from my vets for ear mites.  The do still sell a Johnsons one at Pets at Home and other pet stores, however I heard that it wasn't so good.  You can probably buy canaural on the internet.  Hope this helps

Thank you, I was just discussing with my mother whether my vets would sell me some ear drops without actually seeing my dog, i'll make the vets my first port of call in the morning and ask them if they sell Canaural, thanks again.

you have to take the dog to the vet beacuse canauarl is a pre drug so you have to have a consualt with the vet,

It may be worth checking on the net and seeing how much you can get it for (allow for P&P) before visiting the surgery. Then if your vet wants to charge you more, ask for a prescription and buy it off the net. If the vet asks why you want a prescription, then tell them :)
