Over the last couple of days I've noticed my 2 1/2 year old Mini Schnauzer tilting his head upwards as if there's something fascinating on the ceiling. Before I take him off to the vet I wondered if anyone on here could gve me a clue why he's doing this. Thanks.

Does he only do it in a particular room or does he does it all over the house? An ear problem could be to blame I guess or perhaps he is listening intently to something that you cant hear. Or maybe he has a 'floater' in his eye and is trying to follow it causing him to look upwards? Those are all I can think of im afraid!

All over the house, and in my mum's too. Thought it might be the dodgy artex! He did have a bit of a weepy eye after the wind on Saturday but I bathed it and it's cleared up now. I didn't connect the two (stupid) so you might be right.

A friend of mine has a dog with very dark eyes and only recently noticed some black blobs in them. They turned out to be completely harmless cysts that dont affect her sight as such but she can see the shadow of them and sometimes tries to follow them around the room! Im sure its something and nothing so dont worry too much but youre right to check it out if only to put your mind at rest. Let us know what it turns out to be.
