I have a litter I have just begun weaning and wondered what, those of you who feed raw, start with and when you introduce bones.  I reared my last litter on raw and have been really pleased with the results.  I'm always open to new ideas and have only recently joined champdogs so thought I'd ask you all.

I usually start mine on minced lamb or beef

Yes mince and chopped up chicken breasts are good - paving the way for raw chicken wings when you feel the time is right.  My miniature Schnauzer loves his raw food and the new Schnauzer pup which we are picking up next Saturday will be weaned the same way!  Thriving dogs, glossy coats and good teeth say it all!

That's what I have given so far, minced lamb and beef with natural yoghurt, all of this organic, spoilt things!  For my adults, I use Anglian Meat products mince as well as wings, poultry necks, various bones from my butcher, fruit and veg, etc.  My 2 pups from the last litter were reared naturally and they have grown superbly, stayed lean and built muscle in all the right places, they have excellent hip scores, well below the average for the breed and their elbow scores are both zero.  2 other pups from the litter were reared mostly on kibble and they are not nearly as good as my 2 physically.  I am convinced the diet contributes hugely.  Has anyone else had any experience with direct comparison between litter mates?
