Topic Dog Boards / General / T Touch when tattooing

Hi All.  I remember seeing a post where someone mentioned T touch being carried out whilst puppies are tattooed.  I think its a great idea, anything that can help the babes deal with it.  Do you know if there is anyone who travels to the Bristol area who does this?

The tattooist I use travels to Bristol to me from south Wales.  She always gives me excellent results which I think is the most important thing with tattoos.  I can even read my dogs tattoos off photos.

The tattooing doesn't take long and what the pups object to if at all is being held tightly to ensure they don't move at the critical moment.  The actual Calipers being closed and then the ink being rubbed in takes seconds, and the latter part is soothing for the pup.  The other pups will be on the floor trying to climb up to see what is happening, and the tattooed one will do the same once pup on the floor.

The whole thing is really only traumatic to a sensitive owner, but it really is no different to ear piercing done by gun.

I always hold my own pups (the tattooist has to have a competent assistant) as she trusts me to do ti right without being squeamish.

PM me if you want her details.

As for the T touch I expect that might be useful before or after, but not during.

LOL it was me that mentioned it & it's my"assistant"(actually she's a very good close firend)who massages the puppies before, during & after tattooing(& chipping)

I'm at the other end of the country to Bristol & TBH I don't know who is the tattooist for your area without looking it up here

It would depend on the tattooist's "assistant"

Thanks for your replies.  My last litter were tattooed so I was aware of what was involved in the process (thanks for the info though Brainless).  I just felt that if there was anything that could make things more pleasant then I was interested in finding out a bit more.  My last litter were tattooed by the owner of the stud dog who travelled out of her normal distance.  I will mail you privately for the details of your tattooist Brainless.

Many thanks.
