I was wondering had any personal experance on this?
yesterday i was out walking two of my dogs .
my 9 year old boder collie was running after my dobie all of a sudden she
yelped and collapsed on her back legs .She was unable to get up so i carried her back to my van. Went to my normal vet he refered me straight to a ortopedic specialist in swindon we are in bristol. She has lost the use of the left hind leg but still has reflexes in the leg , The right leg is fine and she still has bladder control. They have kept her in with a fulid drip and steroid injections and also some pain killers they have also xrayed . I hope she will be coming home tomorrow , I have spoke to them about treatment when she comes home and they have said physio and some light work on the tredmill also hydrotherapy . I am going to take her to the homepathic vet next week . I know it will be a slow process but would like to hear anything from anybody with any information on this condition.

I'm sorry I don't have any advice, I've never experienced this.

I just wanted to wish you & your collie good luck with her re-hab & I hope she is back home with you tomorrow.

really sorry to hear this, must be a really terrible time for you. i work in a refererral veterinary surgery and we have seen several dogs with this. it seems to affect all dogs differently so is hard to say how the recovery will go. it will take a long time and a lot of work, we carry out physio 4 times daily on these patients for 20minutes a time. we use various techniques, and i assume you'll be shown how to do these at home. good luck!

Thanks everyone, i picked her up today she went crazy when she saw us.
There is a slight improvement if you place her leg the right place she can hold it there .
A friend who is a groomer came around and clipped her hair off her back end because she smelt and it will be easier to keep her clean.
Have started her physio which she seems ok with and have got the referal letters signed for the hydro so will let you how she gets on
