Topic Dog Boards / General / Tv Vet Marc Abrahams
- By Floradora [gb] Date 18.03.08 17:21 UTC
I had a long conversation with the TV vet Marc Abrahams (It's me or the dog & Paul O'grady show), I didn't know who he was at the time but his face seemed familiar and I did ask him at the end when he mentioned the Tv, glad it was at the end as I went to pieces then, to cut a long story short he is hoping to set up a website that will rate (by the public) vets, dog grooming parlours, boarding kennels etc. He mainly wants to do vets as he feels that we will get to the stage when basic veterinary treatments will become prohibitive to the majority. He wants to hear about good and bad etc. I think that this is a really good idea and hopefully if it is well publicised to the general public it may stop the minority of vets that see an open chequebook when they know dog is insured. Must say he was rather phoar and I did offer to help LOL

Ooh, I could give him one good and one bad practice  ;-) :-D Not going to mention them on here though......

Phoar is the right word...

sounds a good idea until you think it further, had one Brilliant vet ...........then he left the practice and the one who took over some of his surgeries was not nearly as good to begin with but is better now 6Mths on, It is a group practice with about 6/7 vets running surgeries in 3 different locations. do you rate the person or the group, more than half could have changed in a year.
Still like the idea but with reservations.

I agree Chris, and surely you cannot metion bad vets as the libel/slander laws wouldnt allow it?
Also, what suits one peson does not suit another. I really like my vet but im sure theres some that dont - we cant all like everyone. So whos opinion would MArc take?
- By Floradora [gb] Date 19.03.08 12:05 UTC
That I don't know but when we get all the details I will post them on here. It may be worth if you are interested further to send him an e-mail, he has his own website from memory it's www.marcthevet.co.uk or may be .com

From memory floradora??:-)  You know really dont you?! I suppose remembering his e mail address has nothing to do with him being the best looking vet we've ever seen?!!! :-) :-) :-)

I guess the idea would be to review the vet etc and I would find it useful.  There are plenty of review sites around for various products which can help give an overall view which can be helpful when making a decision.

but normally those sites work on more than just opinion. Think its a good idea but not quite sure how it will work effectively and fairly

well Fred's mum I did have a little peek at his website when I got home. Honestly though I didn't know who he was when he first started talking to me apart from his face was familiar. When he said he was on the tv and I asked him what I nearly died as I had watched him on it's me or the dog. He is the best looking vet I agree, even better in the flesh though!
I think it will be a good thing to be able to rate vets on good, bad or indifferent. My vet is def of the good variety though.

if people can post views etc and put there own rating and the site shows them all it could work fine. load of sites for restraunts, cd's, books, whatever do this.

I just realised I saw that guy at crufts......he came dashing up the stairs in his vet clothes as Zorro and I were going down them. Zorro jumped out of his skin at the sight of a vet running towards him and I thought he was going to have a heart attack! :-)
